Caroline + Aaron / Queensland Roadtriping south for their Hunter Valley Wedding

Ahhh Adam’s Peak. Hunter valley and newcastle photographers know what I mean! I was pretty darn pleased when I first came across this little country gem! I couldn’t tell you the wedding, or what time of year it was, but what I can remember is that it was pretty special.

Located just outside the historic township of Broke, this rustic country property with all it’s bits and pieces really speaks to couples and attending guests when they first set foot on it’s soil.

Boasting a 20 person sleep capacity home, large dining room, epic rustic timber barn, walk up bar, paved exterior danced floor with fireplace (for those chilly evenings in winter) private pool and separate Bride’s cottage from the main house.

Not only does Adam’s Peak smash it out of the park with it’s timeless views, wedding facilities and photography location offerings, it continuously keeps evolving to add more and more value for each couple that decide to get married there. Amazing vendors who I work with here include the colour magicians at WOW Flowers, based in Singleton, stylists from both The Wedding Designer and Love and Protect and awesome, personal celebrants such as I do Bespoke and Nikki Married Me who add so much to the day’s emotions, it’s hard to look past them! And unlike a lot of the Hunter Valley venues, this spot is solely built for wedding celebrations and parties - big or small.

So it made sense when Caroline and Aaron travelled all the way down from Queensland to view this venue, they knew before leaving that it was everything they wanted, and more for their wedding day. It was also a great halfway point for family and friends heading north from Sydney - where a few hours up the free way meant everyone was in the mood to stay and party over this gorgeous weekend!

And with location after location, the environment changes to give variety in a timeless sense. Giant tree’s, open fields and water views are just a few elements that add that little bit more to a set of epic photos.

A rustic, country setting that has all the relaxed feelings that remind you of the Australian landscape. Add the classic looks of a tailored suit, a huge lace train off a beautiful fitted gown and epic sunlight - and the rest will perfectly fall into place.

Being able to photograph with Adam Peak’s Dam was also a highlight. Five minutes of hilarious dancing and planned posed by the bridal party, slowly turned into intimate sways and time alone for these two to let it all sink in.

I continually look forward to booking wedding out at Adam’s Peak, as I really love both the staff, the in house food- Monkey Place Catering are to die for (even for Vegans!) and the wild elements and the feeling that this place offers for all.

With 2020 bookings all locked in, I’m stoked be shooting here a little more over the next 12months, but bring on 2021, with more gorgeous couples like Caroline and Aaron, looking for a stunning, country themed wedding day.

Enjoy - Peace

Hidden Wynella Estate Wedding - Shanna + Josh's Wedding

Living in the Hunter and Newcastle for a few years now allows you as a wedding and couples photographer to see many amazing locations, venues and hidden gems - like most places in the world I guess. But this wedding location was a whole new experience for me - one I hadn’t even heard of!

Nestled at the foothills of Mount Bright Lookout, sits this amazing, private estate called Wynella Estate. An amazing homestead built on the property in the 1860’s was the perfect location for Shanna + Josh to exchange vowels and party on into the night - no noise complaints here!

Only possible through family relations, the wedding was moved from another location early into their planning, after Shanna’s Grandparents mentioned the amazing property to them due to it’s family history and close location.

With that all set in place, and typical summer weather on the day, it' was the perfect event out in the Hunter Valley. Set under a gorgeous established Jakaranda tree, the couple met by Jacie Whitfield in front of family and friends. Shanna wore a gorgeous Anna Campbell gown full of textural pearl detailing, which supplemented Josh’s choice of modern style, slim fit blazer.

The area also allowed for gorgeous family photos, and a chance for the couple to get away from all the party action and hit the mountain lookout for photos with a view.

As sun set, their celebration was brought together with some beautiful speeches under the stars, and an open dance floor with festooning to light the way. Slider Burgers by Sprout Catering, local organic wines from Tamburlaine and live music by Roller Girl, built the atmosphere where a mother daughter dance took place, and family got into the wedding spirt vibes with beers in hand!

This wedding had all the hallmarks of location, location, location! Such an amazing spot to host a magical wedding event. It was a great reminder that every wedding is amazing, and to plan a party and the rest will fall into place!

I’ve posted a hand full of images below, by please check out the whole gallery here on my couples website for more wedding and elopement inspiration at Gez Xavier Mansfield HQ in the Hunter Valley!

Elise + Damon / Pre Wedding. Backstreets and a million Laughs

This pre wedding photoshoot of Elise + Damon was tee’d up after they dropped their gorgeous little girls off at their Grandad’s house, before cruising up north to the sleek backstreets of Newcastle! A perfect location hand picked to beat the crowds, melt some ice and feel great in eachother’s arms - not to mention the laughs!

And the best part - we didn’t have to worry about yelling out ‘Car!’ when crossing roads!

Personal journeys like this shoot bring out the best in each other as you both find the comfort zone …

And just think how awesome the day will be when their girls find these shots hidden away for 15 years! Another perfect day in pre wedding photography paradise! Hope you love this one!!

Enjoy + Peace!

Winter has come and Gone! Golden Light Wedding Prep with Kirsty + Andrew

Newcastle is one of my personal fave photo backdrops. It’s kind of hard to beat up here in the Hunter Valley, as it offers so much more than just a pristine water view. Preparing for their wedding, Kirsty and Andrew wanted their shoot to have the feelings of home, coming from the Inner West in Sydney, with the beach and salty air near by - just the perfect location to hold their pre wedding session.

Beating the crowds in, they head up the freeway mid week to meet me at Hunter Street Mall, talking in all things backstreets, rooftops, graffiti and a little bit of wedding chat... all while having a relaxed, fun photo shoot.

With less than a month before their wedding day, excitement was high, and I sure knew how to expertly frame all the pretty photos of these two, just being in love. Keeping the style light and fun, we bounced from location to location, allowing that famous Hunter Valley afternoon light to work it’s magic as the sun set.

“For me, it’s about making these guys feel amazing in the time we have. Whoever the couple... and no matter where. Full stop. And the experience these amazing couples have with me on these wedding shoots always differ, in an awesome way.”

“I think it’s important to spend time with your wedding photographer before your big day, as you would with other wedding vendors. And these session really allow them to be them…together. Forget strict poses and tourist locations… I even ask couples to choose a way when we come to an intersection. It keeps me sharp, and gives them the freedom they hopefully never thought was possible on a couple shoot”

So here we go - you’re about to see some awesome love on another relaxed Newcastle photo session! By now their wedding would have been shot and edited, but it’s always nice to take a step back and see where I first met them…and to show you all how well couples can look, with a tiny afternoon session.

What a beautiful way to memorialise the year ahead and and celebrate your love!

Hope you love - and throw me (or them a comment if you like!)

Enjoy + Peace

Modern Wedding Inspiration from another beautiful Enzo Engagement!

We happen to believe that wedding season is actually all year round—gone are the days when a summer wedding is the only kind! At least not here in the best wine growing location that N.S.W has to offer anyway!

And continuing the year with weddings for all seasons means you get some seriously unique wedding design ideas, story telling images and gorgeous photography at some amazing, well known local venues.

It’s no secret that luscious Hunter Valley grapes on the vines look as amazing on as they do off! Giving a whole new look and feel to the venue, specially in the late afternoon! So much so that you can actually have your wedding reception outside on the deck over looking just a section of what Enzo Weddings has to offer out at Ironbark Hill, in Pokolbin. Letting the views add to the perfect backdrop for any sized winter wedding in the Hunter Valley!

The day came together with planning + textures and styling throughout by the well know Enzo team, and the attention to detail was second to none. Wed by Kez was the official celebrant for the excited couple, and this tuned in awesomely as she warmed the crowd up for what was to be an emotional but fun celebration!

Another reason why this wedding venue just continues to be such a popular spot for guests and families alike is the vendors that keep getting asked back! With his holsters drawn, boots tapping and constant chatting with the guest filled the pockets of silence, Gez kept the vibe alive as soon as he and the cameras rolled in! Adding in pops and vibrants rocking florals by Jade McIntosh Flowers, this day was nothing short of amazing!

With all this, the elopement chapel held cheers for Carly and Josh as the kicked the doors open on what was to be their new, next chapter, cheerings with the 150 guests both on the the grounds and on the dancefloor soon after!

Scroll on for a sneak peek and fall in love with all the cozy details in photos from Gez Xavier Mansfield Photography, with more images to come in the coming weeks!
