Sunshine, clear skies and no one around. A dream for both photographer and his couple on an engagement session.
Going into the shoot these two were a little nervous - which is great - because it's kind of the normal feeling one would feel in front of a camera. And to be fair, standing on a beach with your partner in front of a photographer you've only met once, really isn't the easiest thing.
Making you laugh while having your eyes closed and shouting "Just pretend I'm not here..." 20 meters away, may seem like a joke... but it's this physical distance and personal space that allows this so called 'warming up technique' to work it's best. Ten minutes in, images provoking the sense of comfort started to surface, and with Ollie the dog playing for their full attention, these shots came oh so naturally!
As the sun set, I was confident that these two hit the nail on the head, and when Joel started the 'Dab'... I knew I had a winner of a couple!
Discovering Redhead beach in it's amazing natural setting right up until dusk also gave us a great grounding. A second home - as these two spend most of their spare time at the beach, and will be getting married on the sand in Seal Rocks.
Come Saturday both Michelle and Joel won't even know I'm present on the day, shooting in a candid fashion the entire day, allowing them to take in real-time moments for themselves.
